This is great, I don't know what went wrong with the scopes they originally used for the weapons add-ons but they're terrible and you just saved me and others that feel the same hours of merging so Thankyou..

how about the binocs? Is there the same problem like with Open Scopes addon?

EDIT: Ok, I couldn't resist and tested it right away. No problems with binocs.

Great addon thank you very much!

Will there be open scopes for AO 3.1?

Reply Good karma Bad karma+3 votes

I don't have AO installed but will look at doing a version over the next few days.

In theory this STCoP version should work with vanilla, AO and OWR - i'm sure the file structure will be the same in all the mods. The problem will be some of the scope textures may not match, but that would only be a small tweak.

An OWR one would be good.

The original OWR has open Scopes!

Dont know why its not ported into CoC!

In earlier versions of OWR CoC there were open scopes, but the scope textures now are pretty nice. I don't know what happened for it to be removed.

It technically works with AO 3.1 as it doesn't cause any issues, but it uses the STCoP scope reticles. I personally like the AO reticles better. If you meant an AO reticle version, I would very much like to see this.

What a gread Mod, Sir!

But i have a little "problem": since i installed it, i have a hughe loadingtime! Quiksave, Map change, Mainmenu via ESC. All is like "i freeze for 5 seconds"!
Any solutions or tips?

Reply Good karma Bad karma0 votes

Odd, there's no reason i know of for any freezing.

I run it on an old Q6600 based system with only 4GB ram and it works fine.

perhaps put your old gamedata back and try reinstalling.

Ahh thats who morka is - it was a name of a file in the database Dodge_this posted. I couldn't find any details.

Full credit to morka - these are lovely scope textures.

I've updated the notes and readme to reflect this.

Thanks

SIR, i found out what it was, but didn´t know why exactly!
I changed the "scopes_16.xml" back to that one with STCoP comes and now all runs fine again!

Reply Good karma Bad karma+2 votes

I just tried this and the game crashed when loading a save.
It's because the xml files aren't matching.

Sounds like an install problem, as well as the "scopes_16" xml file the game needs the "ui_ingame" xml file (in the textures_descr folder)

Hello this mod looks interesting but i have a few questions. If i downloaded the other open scopes (the one that is now archived) can i overwrite the old mod with this new one? Also do we need new game? Thank you.

Yep just overwrite the old one, follow the readme instructions.

No new game needed :)

Not a big fan of the PSO scope and i don't understand why the 1P29 sight using the same crosshair texture as the PSO. Do you know how i replace these two with tsěsarĭ files ? =)

Oh, and i'm wondering why nobody brought the Gnomus Scopes from COP to COC. They're far more detailed in my opinion.

Whoops not sure how i missed that, yes the 1P29 should have it's own scope. Will fix with the next update, thanks :)

To replace any of the textures with tsěsarĭ's scopes simply pop the ones you want in to you gamedata>textures>wpn folder and overwrite (remember to backup!)

In fact if you prefer textures from other open scope mods you can do the same. The xml config files in my addon are set up to support this. You just need to make sure the texture files (.dds files) you are using are 1024x1024 in size.

Handy program to view texture files - Nvidia's Windows Texture Viewer. It gives you the size of the texture on the bottom of the window.

Nvidia.co.uk

Also, Gnomus Scopes does work with vanilla Coc :)

I would not use the Gnomus scopes you linked to though, the author has adjusted the size of the textures, and seems to have made other changes too. Use this one:

Privat.bahnhof.se

I've just tested it and it works fine.

I guess the reason noones looked at it before is that 99% of people playing CoC are using weapon mods and it certainly won't work with them (vanilla has 7 scopes STCoP has 15 for example)

Cheers

Thank you for detailed and fast answer. (^_^)/ And you're welcome! I will tell you if in find any other issue.

I'll play around with the different scope packs using the advices you gave me, and create a scope pack fitting my taste. =)

Ah, that's why all the Gnomus scopes we're all messed up when i tried it. i thought it was the original file. Everything works fine now with the file you gave me. ;) I merged it with the StCOP weapon pack, some of tsěsarĭ's scopes and some of these ones.

Anyway, thank you again and keep up the great work!

Sorry to bother, is there a workaround for 4:3 aspect?
My system is a bit of a relic so I run CoC at 800x600.

Reply Good karma Bad karma+1 vote
MegaTomG Author

It should work in 4:3, the game displays 4:3 textures as a start and then adds bars to each side for widescreen formats.

Give it a go and report back, try the 16:10 first, i'll add a note to the readme if it works.

I must be mucking something up; I tried both types and I get the scopes sitting at the top left of the screen. Perhaps I've messed something up with an unrelated mod file. I'll get back to you once I've tested further.
(running AO + OA, Smurf's hud and a customised damages.ltx/actor.ltx for Arma-tier realism - noting that there's a new version of your mod specified as an AO version I'll update and let you know.)

Hi, Using OWR 3 Streloks Sig is showing a missing scope texture (purple-ish). It was working before adding this scopes add-on. I also noticed that the config ui files have both the Fn2000 and RPG scopes missing, I added both but it did not fix the issue with OWR's Streloks Sig (sniper version) so I'm going to have to double check the files to figure out what I missed and thought I'd mention it here for you to update your files.

Hi, thanks for this, i didn't know the special weapons had different textures, should be an easy fix i'll look at it later. Check the weapon config file to see what scope the weapon uses.

gamedata>configs>weapons - will be the scope_texture line

The OWR files were quite confusing - there's no Fn2000 texture but there is a F2000 texture which the Aug uses (does the Fn2000 weapon even exist in OWR?)

I'll take a closer look at the OWR version later, thanks!

Reply Good karma+2 votes

To get the Streloks Sig texture right pick your favourite from the whole pack and replace the 'wpn_crosshair_zf3' texture.

But unfortunately i'm going to have to remove the OWR scopes option.

Basically too many of the weapons (with hard fixed scopes) use the same scope textures. These weapons have totally different external scope models and it's very difficult to get them to match what the texture looks like.

To do it you'd have to insert correct open scope textures, create lines in the xml config files and then adjust the actual weapon config file to tell them what scope to use.

I just don't have the time to do this, sorry :/

1.04 Changelog

1.04

Minor tweaks to various textures.
Added OWR version based on the CoP OWRv3 mod.

Thanks to nashathedog for the help :)

AO users please use the below tweak to get a better scope for the SVU-A (the 1p29 scope wasn't right at all!)

Go to:

gamedata>configs>weapons

open the w_svu.ltx file

scroll to the bottom part of the file and find the section under:

[wpn_svu_nimble]:wpn_svu

Then change:

scope_texture = wpn_crosshair_1p29

to:

scope_texture = wpn_crosshair

No I'm afraid not, I don't have much spare time at the moment.

I believe this is already done for CoM though, check out diekrupps's post on the first page. One of the downloads is for Morka's STCoP Call of Misery scopes - it's worth giving them a try. It's just textures but from a quick look it looks like they'll work with the base STCoP cfg files.
